Research Associate

Responsibilities                                                                                                                                                                                                      Measurement Resources is seeking a quantitative research associate to work in a small team, high-growth, mission-driven environment. Research Associate                                                                                                                                                                                                              The Research Associate assists with external projects designed to strengthen the efficiency and effectiveness of organizations. Types of projects include program evaluation, and applied research, impact reporting.

Tasks include:

  • Collect, clean, merge, analyze, and report data contained in several datasets;
  • Assist with survey development and implementation;
  • Prepare data tables, charts, and figures to be included in reports and presentations of research and evaluation results;
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the research team on tasks such as report writing, interpretation of quantitative data, and survey development and creation;
  • Research support and input as needed to the evaluation and research project team;
  • This position reports directly to Harley Vossler, Senior Research Analyst for all project related activities. They are also expected to work closely with the entire research team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, public health, or related discipline.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; able to interpret and present data and research for a wide variety of audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience cleaning and analyzing datasets, experience in Excel necessary.
  • Demonstrated data analysis and/or statistical analysis, including experience writing and using code/syntax in statistical software/programs preferred. (Experience in R is strongly preferred).
  • Understanding of data visualization and infographic best practices preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a team as well as work independently and to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to change and work in a fast paced, growing environment.

Performance Expectation                                                                                                                                                                                          Ongoing communication will occur regarding employee performance. A formal review will occur at least annually. The Research Associate’s performance will be evaluated on the following elements.

  4. Cooperation with team members (internal and external)
  5. Learning and continuous improvement
  6. Creativity and initiative

Benefits                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  This is a flexible, hourly, part-time position of approximately 30 hours per week. Hourly wage will be based on skills and experience and starts at $25/ hour. Opportunity for the position to become full time and/or permanent may become possible.

Charly Bauer

Executive Director

Charly Bauer, executive director for Measurement Resources, leads the team of data analysts and subject matter experts to help purpose-driven organizations use measurement to move their missions forward. Prior to joining Measurement Resources in early 2022, Charly served as C-suite executive and co-founder of Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, where he supported the growth of the company from one to 58 scoop shops in 16 cities. He also managed the company’s philanthropy efforts and led the organization through the process of becoming a Certified B Corporation in 2013. He currently serves on nonprofit boards, including BuddyUp for Life and Besa, and has previously served on the boards of Leadership Columbus, the Short North Business Association and Short North Alliance, and the North Market Development Authority, where Jeni’s had its first retail location. Prior to Jeni’s, Charly served as a product manager at OCLC, Inc., the global library technology and research organization.
