Employee Spotlight of the Month: Emily Wolfe-Sherrie

This month, Measurement Resources Company (MRC) is thrilled to highlight Emily Wolfe-Sherrie, our talented Senior Researcher. Her positive attitude and dedication make her a joy to work with. As our Senior Researcher, Emily consults with nonprofits and government (state and local) agencies to increase organization and program efficiency through our research and evaluation services. She is responsible for developing detailed reports based on organizational, population, and community-level data to help stakeholders understand the impacts of their programs and identify opportunities for programmatic improvements. Emily also uses her skills to research strategies and methods to enhance organizations’ programs, focusing on increasing efficiencies and optimizing outputs.

Emily brings a wealth of expertise in research and fieldwork, particularly in maternal health. She has extensive experience in postpartum social support and maternal mental health. Prior to joining MRC, she worked on studies at The Ohio State University, including research in Mexico and Nicaragua. Emily has also contributed to various projects on food insecurity and cultural models of postpartum support, using her skills to help advance understanding in these critical areas.

Emily is currently supporting our partners at the Ohio Department of Health, Bureau of Child and Family Health and Project Bravo El Paso Community Action Program. The Ohio Department of Health Bureau of Maternal, Child, and Family Health (BMCFH) is organized to eliminate health disparities and support families by improving birth outcomes and the health status of women, infants, children, and youth, including children and youth with complex health care needs. Using data and proven practice, the bureau’s programs support the delivery of direct services, linkages and referrals, population-based supports, program evaluation, education, monitoring and quality oversight, and policy and systems development.

Project Bravo is a nonprofit based in El Paso Texas, their mission is to build bridges to opportunities that help individuals and families thrive in their Borderland community. Some of their programs include Weatherization Assistance, Housing and utilities support, and Patient Assistance Programs that provide low-cost health clinics, pharmacy discounts, and free eye exams and eyeglasses. These different programs aim to empower families by helping them become economically and socially self-sufficient.

For most of her clients Emily serves as a project manager and team lead, or as a lead qualitative researcher.

 Emily has served:

A typical day for Emily begins with getting her infant and toddler ready to drop off at daycare. Once home, she starts her morning with a cup of coffee and begins her workday by checking her calendar for meetings, scheduled interviews, or focus groups. Depending on the day, Emily either conducts interviews or focus groups, analyzes data, writes reports, or presents findings. Between meetings, she focuses on tasks like interview protocol and survey design. After work, Emily often goes to the gym before picking up her kids from daycare and settling down for the evening.

Outside of work, Emily loves spending time with her family. They are currently living in New Mexico, where they enjoy watching hot air balloons land near their home. They also enjoy visiting the park during their free time. When she has some time to herself, Emily likes to dive into a fantasy novel.
